چکیده

In addition to conserving energy and enstrophy, the nonlinear terms of the twodimensional incompressible Navier–Stokes equation are well known to conserve the global integral of any continuously differentiable function of the scalar vorticity field. However, the phenomenological role of these additional inviscid invariants, including the issue as to whether they cascade to large or small scales, is an open question. In this work, well-resolved implicitly dealiased pseudospectral simulations suggest that the fourth power of the vorticity cascades to small scales.

SOME POINTS ON CASIMIR FORCES

Casimir forces of massive ferrnionic Dirac fields are calculated for parallel plates geometry in spatial space with dimension d and imposing bag model boundary conditions. It is shown that in the range of ma>>l where m is mass of fields quanta and a is the separation distance of the plates, it is equal to massive bosonic fields Casimir force for each degree of freedom. We argue this equalit...

Predictions on Two - dimensional Turbulence by Conformal Field Theory

A generalized theory of two-dimensional isotropic turbulence is developed based on con-formal symmetry. A number of minimal models of conformal turbulence are solved under an extended constraint including both the enstrophy cascade by Kraichnan and the discontinuity of vorticity by Saffman. There are an infinite number of solutions which fall into two different categories. An explicit relation ...

A complete theory of low-energy phase diagrams for two-dimensional turbulence steady states and equilibria

For the 2D Euler equations and related models of geophysical flows, minima of energy–Casimir variational problems are stable steady states of the equations (Arnol’d theorems). The same variational problems also describe sets of statistical equilibria of the equations. This paper uses Lyapunov–Schmidt reduction in order to study the bifurcation diagrams for these variational problems, in the lim...

Locality and stability of the cascades of two-dimensional turbulence.

We investigate and clarify the notion of locality as it pertains to the cascades of two-dimensional turbulence. The mathematical framework underlying our analysis is the infinite system of balance equations that govern the generalized unfused structure functions, first introduced by L'vov and Procaccia. As a point of departure we use a revised version of the system of hypotheses that was propos...

3-D Perturbations in Conformal Turbulence

The effects of three-dimensional perturbations in two-dimensional turbulence are investigated, through a conformal field theory approach. We compute scaling exponents for the energy spectra of enstrophy and energy cascades, in a strong coupling limit, and compare them to the values found in recent experiments. The extension of unperturbed conformal turbulence to the present situation is perform...
